About Ovarian Cancer
Ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer death among women in the United States. The American Cancer Society estimates that over 22,000 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the U.S. in 2008 and about 15,520 women will die from it. If ovarian cancer is detected in early stages (before it has spread outside the ovary), treatment is often very successful, with five-year survival rates of about 92 percent. However, less than 20 percent of the cancers are detected in early stages. Thus, the average five-year survival rate is just 45 percent. The deaths compared to those who are diagnosed are staggering but we can do something to change this.

I have insomnia. Not the kind that keeps me up night after night. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to why I fall asleep easy some nights and toss and turn others. Every time I go to my annual physical I scratch my head when I get to the section of the form that asks when was the first and last day of my last menstrual cycle. I have never kept up with that information as I know that I should. Until now.
