Drink water, not sugar

I love water. I drink it all day while I sit at my desk working. When I get home I often switch to decaf tea sweetened with Stevia. I try to avoid all artificial sweeteners, but it's hard sometimes. So I was interested when Hint offered me a sample of their flavored water.

Hint, whose mantra is Drink Water, Not Sugar® is the brainchild of Kara Goldin, a San Francisco mother of four who was seeking a refreshing, unsweetened and no calorie beverage to give her family. Her simple solution – Hint Essence Water. Launched in 2005, she developed Hint in response to the growing wall of sugary juices and sodas. HINT is at the heart of a healthy lifestyle™, and is available in 13 delicious flavors including the newest flavors, Hibiscus Vanilla, Watermelon, Honeydew Hibiscus and Blackberry, as well as Mango-Grapefruit, Pomegranate-Tangerine, Lime, Raspberry-Lime, Peppermint, Pear, Tropical Punch, Cucumber and Strawberry Kiwi. Each 16 ounce bottle is $1.79 and can be found in fine grocery stores and retailers all over the United States. www.drinkhint.com.

Sound good? It tastes even better.

Stay hydrated when traveling

Summer is the most popular time to go on vacation. Many of these trips will require hopping on a plane and rushing through the airport. Everyone knows that staying hydrated is important when traveling, but this isn't always easy.

As airports have increased security and tightened TSA regulations over the last few years, passengers have become accustomed to ditching their water bottles before passing through security and purchasing a new bottle once they pass through.

This habit is not only frustrating for passengers, it is also costly – each bottle costs about $1, and at the airport even more – as well as environmentally unfriendly. On average, 30 billion bottles of water are purchased annually. Shockingly, less than 14% are recycled and 26 billion bottles are sent to landfills or incinerated each year.

The solution is simple – switch to a re-useable bottle with a filter that can be safely taken through security and provides portable access to pure water without the cost or waste of throw-away bottles. Just launched, the Wellness H2.O water bottle’s micro-filtration cartridge uses organic coconut carbon to eliminate 99% of toxins in water. After water is filtered, the system uses magnetite and Japanese volcanic minerals to actually improve water, making it more hydrating, which is extra important when flying.

The Wellness H2.O water bottle costs $49.95 at endbottledwater.com, and can replace about 1,000 water bottles and save passengers $1,000 each year.
